Liv Satchell is a theatre-maker, writer, and dramaturg trained at the VCA (Directing) and the University of Sydney. Her practice focuses on community development for emerging artists, new writing development, and producing original work through her company VIMH. Her plays include I sat and waited but you were gone too long (La Mama Explorations 2016) and my sister feather (La Mama Courthouse 2018) and let bleeding girls lie (scheduled for 2020 production). I sat and waited but you were gone too long was showcased at Playwriting Australia’s National Play Festival in 2016 and her plays have been variously shortlisted for the Philip Parsons Fellowship for Emerging Playwrights, the Rodney Seaborn Playwrights Award, the Max Afford Playwrights Award, and the Queensland Premier’s Drama Award. She was nominated for Best Director at the 2019 Green Room Awards for my sister feather. She co-founded Melbourne monthly performance program Small and Loud in 2016.
Julian is a director, performer and dramaturg trained at the VCA (Theatre Practice) whose primary focus is developing, presenting and performing new work.
He is currently working as a dramaturg for a new theatre/dance hybrid work being presented at Next Wave 2020, and as the dramaturg for the upcoming VIMH show Eggplant, Me and The Sea. As an actor he most recently performed in the 2019 Victorian State Tour of The Crucible/Year of Wonders with Complete Works Theatre Company (dir. Andrew Blackman). In 2018, Julian was a Theatre Works Associate Artist and assistant-directed Polygraph (dir. Tanya Gerstle, Theatreworks) and Broken (dir. Susie Dee, fortyfivedownstairs).
His other performance highlights include Disgust (dir. Stephanie Ghajar), Emergence (dir. Eryn Kimberley), Lifetime Guarantee (dir. John Sheedy, Theatre Works), Bucks (or A Bag of D*cks) (Adelaide Fringe Festival, Bad Ducks Co.), Florida (dir. Zachary Dunbar, La Mama), Much Ado About Nothing (dir. Alister Smith/Tony Smith, VCA) which toured to the Folkwang International Shakespeare Festival in Essen, No End of Blame (dir. Bridget Balodis, VCA), The Cherry Orchard (dir. Melanie Beddie, VCA), Side:Effect (dir. Tobias Manderson-Gavin, MKA), The Pillowman (dir. Luke Rogers, New Theatre), and Human Resources (dir. Kate Gaul, Siren Theatre Co.).
